Judges Information 

For already MBN trained/certified judges, BIG PIG JIG® offers two “Judge Registration Packages.” All Judges wishing to participate in the judging at BIG PIG JIG® MUST complete an Application for ONE of the TWO choices of “Judge Registration Packages.”

The “No Frills Registration Package” includes:
1 – One Day Event Arm Band for Saturday ONLY
1 – BIG PIG JIG® souvenir koozie 

Water (Dasani) and soft drinks (Coca-Cola) will be available at the Judges’ Pavilion.

The “Whole Hog Registration Package” includes: 
1 – Two Day Event Arm Band for Friday & Saturday
1 – BIG PIG JIG® souvenir koozie
Access to the Hospitality Bar (MUST be wearing Arm Band)
1 – Official BIG PIG JIG® T-Shirt. Each Applicant must provide size (Small to X-Large).

“MBN Judges Training Seminar”

Memphis Barbecue Network Judges Training Seminar 

Memphis Barbecue Network is proud to offer barbecue judging seminars for barbecue enthusiasts. The purpose of these seminars is to instruct judges in the mechanics of judging a Memphis Barbecue Network Sanctioned barbecue contest.

All Network Sanctioned Contests are provided with lists of trained and certified judges for use in their contests. Barbecue teams prefer trained and/or certified judges and often inquire at a contest as to the number of trained and/or certified judges. Most sanctioned contests, including the Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, are rapidly working toward using 100% trained and/or certified judges. As a trained and/or certified judge, you will be invited to judge at many events all across the country.

Topics that will be covered at the judging seminar include: the Memphis Barbecue judging process and rules, the official meat categories, the scoring process, blind, on-site and final judging. You will sample barbecue during simulated judging exercises by barbecue teams. Our Class is held on Event Friday morning, therefore having newly “Trained” Judges for our current event!

After becoming a Memphis Barbecue Network trained judge, you may gain certification by judging each official meat category (Whole Hog, Pulled Pork, and Rib) at a least 2 (two) sanctioned contests.   Click:  “MBN Judges Training Seminar”  

The Judges Training Seminar cost is $75 which includes all materials and is limited to the first 50 registrants. Deadline to register is October 1. Our next seminar will be held:

After completing the Application for the “MBN Judging Seminar,” please BE CERTAIN to complete a “Registration for a Judging Package!” This is available by choosing EITHER the “Whole Hog Judges” or the “No Frills Judges” package.  (SEE ABOVE!)
